COVID-19 Exclusion Terms removed

Back in March 2020, when COVID-19 materialised, there was a lot of uncertainty as to how it would impact our health and our way of life.

To protect its membership as a whole, the Society added COVID-19 exclusion terms for all new individual business from that point until such time as we could assess its impact on our health underwriting.

We have been closely monitoring the situation and, with the risk now better understood and managed, we removed our COVID-19 exclusion terms with effect 6 October 2022. This will mean that all new memberships from that date will be covered for COVID-19 related incapacity and, in fairness to all members, we will also remove the exclusion terms on existing individual members that joined since March 2020 meaning they are now covered too.

We know COVID-19 has not gone away, though we have found ways to live with it and will continue to monitor the situation into the future.
