You have a number of Rights when it comes to your personal information. And we want to make it as easy as possible for you to understand what these rights are, when they apply and how you can make a request. 1. Right to Access

What does this right mean?

When it comes to accessing your information, you are in control. You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. For example, this could be a previous application form or information about your application.

2. Right to Rectify

What does this right mean?

In certain circumstances, you have the right to ask us to correct information about you. For example, if you feel it’s inaccurate or incomplete (or both).

3. Right to Erase

What does this right mean?

In certain circumstances, you have the right to ask us to delete information that we hold about you.

Please note: There are some occasions when we may not be able to delete your personal information for legal, regulatory or technical reasons.

If you have shared your information with any of our partners, and your request is valid, we will look to let them know that you have asked for it to be erased.

4. Right to Restrict

What does this right mean?

In certain circumstances, you have the right to restrict us from processing your information any further or deleting it.

Just so you know: There are some things that we need to process your personal information for. For example, to take care of your membership, to help protect you from fraud and fulfil legal and contractual obligations. And if processing is restricted, we will continue to store your information and use it as required to by law.

5. Right to Object

What does this right mean?

In certain circumstances, you have the right to ask us to stop processing your personal information. For example, if you feel that us processing your information is causing you distress and you would like us to stop.

Just so you know: There are some situations where we may not be able to immediately stop processing your information despite your objection. We will review your request and let you know our reasons for agreeing or not agreeing.

6. Right to Portability

What does this right mean?

You have the right to ask us to transfer a copy of the information we hold about you - to yourself or another provider. You can do this using the form below.

Just so you know: Information transferred in this way will be sent in a set structure, based on data you have provided to us. It will always include your name, address and contact number.

In certain circumstances, you have the right to transfer a copy of some of your information - to you or to certain third parties (e.g. another financial provider). This applies when you have shared your information with us, it has been collected with your consent or where collecting it was necessary for the agreement between us.

7. Right to Human Intervention

What does this right mean?

In certain circumstances, you have the right to request for an automated decision to be reviewed.

Just so you know: This right only applies to fully automated decisions. However, the Society does not currently make decisions in this way.

8. Job applicant or current or previous Society employee?

What does this right mean?

If you work at the Society, you used to work here or you have applied for a job with us then you have the same rights when it comes to your personal information. These include the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, portability and human intervention.

Just so you know: These rights apply to all types of employment contracts - permanent, fixed term, temporary and contract.

9. Right to Withdraw Consent

What does this right mean?

In certain circumstances, you have the right to withdraw your consent to the Society processing your information.

By withdrawing your consent, it will not affect any use we have made of the information before this date.

What happens next?

 

  • When you submit a request, we will send you an acknowledgement to let you know that we have received it.

  • We may need to contact you and discuss any additional information about your request (if needed).
