Gavin has worked in the insurance industry for over a decade in various servicing, sales and business development roles. He has gained a wide understanding of the insurance market. 

 

Gavin joined the Society in late 2019, working as the Society’s Sales and Business Development Consultant. This is a key role in talking to existing, and new members, about their memberships and income protection needs. Gavin is also the key contact for intermediaries looking to advise on the Society’s individual and group products. 

 

Outside of work Gavin enjoys DIY, being by the sea and hot weather.

Our longest standing member of staff, joining the society in 1993. Deborah is one of our Senior Claims Administrators and is a point of contact when a member needs to claim on their plan. Deborah manages sickness benefit claims and supports the approval process whilst liaising with GPs.

 

Deborah is an avid brass player and enjoys participating in concerts and contests, she also enjoys spending time gardening and walking her dog.

Claire joined our claims team in April 2021. This is Claire’s second time working with the Society, having now added a son to her family! Claire’s role involves her supporting members in registering, assessing, and managing their claims.  

 

Outside of the office Claire is always looking for her next adventure as she does enjoy a seaside holiday or two!

Jon’s background is in the Financial Services industry working for Financial institutions.

 

Working with the Society since November 2016, Jon has oversight and control of all aspects of the new business processes.

 

Jon is a sports enthusiast, and when family life allows him to, he enjoys playing golf, football and skiing.

Clair has a background in financial services, in administrative roles.

 

She joined the Society in January 2020 and is now the key contact for our ‘information only’ service, helping members consider their options and amend their membership where they have a specific change in their circumstances and do not require advice. Clair also provides administrative support to our accounts, claims and new business teams.

 

Clair likes food! As both a cook and a consumer, her favourite is a curry.

Amy worked for Wiltshire Police for ten years and worked her way up through the civilian ranks to become a Local Crime Investigator. Amy then used that experience in an investigation role for a retail company.

 

In 2018 she took on the “best job of all time” and became a mum to Joshua, who is now starting school in September. 

 

Amy has been working for Wiltshire Friendly for almost 6 months as a Quality Control Operator. Her main responsibility is to interrogate our systems and check documents composed by the team, to make sure they are factually correct and of a high standard before they are sent out to our members. Every day brings something different and Amy’s enquiring mindset and investigation skills are well utilised.

 

Amy and Joshua love to go for walks in the fresh air and visit parks. Amy is also quite partial to some alone time, a relaxing spa weekend with friends to unwind.

Stacey is one of our new team members, joining us in March 2022. 

 

Originally from Surrey, Stacey moved to the area in 2017 after the birth of her daughter. She left her career in the Police to concentrate on being a mum and she has since gained a wealth of reception and administration experience working part time in A&E. 

 

Stacey is the Society Administrator, handling all member queries by phone, email and post. Stacey administers our members plans by preparing letters in relation to the query and manages the Society’s post.  

 

Her spare time is spent with her husband, their young children and their rescue dog Beanz.

Linda has worked in Financial Services for 20 years, joining the Society in 2018.

 

Linda’s role has 3 main focusses:

 

  • To manage the Operations team
  • To oversee the new business and claims processes and administration
  • To manage Member Relations

 

Outside of work, home and family is where she enjoys spending her time, along with playing for her local ladies cricket team. Currently the house is going through a major refurbishment, with Linda as the Project Manager! Then there’s her children to dote on, once again with Linda as the Project Manager!

Sarah has built an excellent oversight of the Society, having joined in 2004, and leads and manages both the finance and operational areas of the business.  Sarah’s team aims to deliver excellent service to our members and intermediaries and they continuously strive to develop and improve processes which will aid Society efficiency. 

 

Sarah is also responsible for providing the Board of Management with the information that they need to make key decisions for the benefit of its members.

 

Sarah enjoys walks on the coast with her scruffy, but loyal, border terrier.

Joined the Society in October 2004, took on the role of Governance & Compliance Manager in 2013. Lee’s role is focused on Society controls. His key responsibilities are to oversee, manage and implement the Society’s:

 

  • financial services compliance – such as fighting financial crime and monitoring and responding to complaints;
  • non-financial services regulatory compliance – this includes such things as data protection and health and safety.  

 

In short, he’s our barometer for ensuring we’re doing the right thing at the right time. 

 

Lee enjoys spending time with his family, loves watching live music and watching and playing almost any sport. 

 

He is also an avid runner, desperately trying to run as fast as he used to which is hard work when you’re nearly 50! A bit like Forrest Gump…he’s always running…he also loves a box of chocolates!

Our technical ‘whizz kid’, Ed ensures that the Society’s technology works day in, day out and that we are using the best IT solutions to meet our operational needs.

 

Automation and digitisation are important for a modern Society. It’s Ed's responsibility to achieve this and to ensure our systems are kept secure.

 

Outside of work, a young family and a passion for following Plymouth Argyle means Ed only has limited time to play with the vast array of technical toys he has accumulated!

Jon has spent the first three decades of his working life within financial services. He has worked in Bank, Building Society and Insurance Company environments, latterly in senior sales and operations roles with Eagle Star and AXA.

 

In 2005 he formed his own company providing business consultancy services to predominantly financial services clients - Wiltshire Friendly was one of those clients. He has therefore been working with the Society’s Board of Management for a number of years, developing and implementing the Society’s strategy.

 

In November 2016 Jon took over the role of Chief Executive.

 

Jon has more recently traded the mountains for the water, his paddle board now being the main source of his exercise and weekend fun. That said, he still likes to ride the Brompton to work for a bit of exercise and to help the environment.
