Staff Spotlight – Clair Carpenter

Q. Clair, how long have you been working at Wiltshire Friendly Society?

A year and a half, although this is my first role within the insurance industry, I have always worked in the finance sector.

Q. What are the main responsibilities of your job?

To talk to members and give them the facts about their plans, then direct them to our sales adviser for a more in depth review depending on their requirements.

I also help in other departments when needed. This is a good thing, as I get to see the whole process from new members through to claims and the administration that goes with it.

I am also part of the marketing team that delivers the society’s social media content.

Q. What do you like best about your job?

The people. My colleagues are lovely and talking to our members is always interesting.

Q. What does a good day look like for you?

Whilst every day is different, it would be talking to members and sorting their enquiries and helping my colleagues.

Q. As a Member, should I be reassured you exist?

Absolutely, I am here to tell you what your plan does for you. As I have benefitted from training in Member Services and Claims, I can generally help you with those queries, without having to redirect you, and I know who to go to when further help is required sorting your enquiry.

Q. What do you like to do in your time outside of work?

Time outside of work is taken up with my family, my two children keep me busy!

Q. And finally, how would your colleagues at work describe you?

They would probably say I am happy, smiley and always hungry!
