Making a Claim

Step 1 – Notification
You will need to notify us as soon as you become aware that your incapacity may result in a claim. This can be done by phone, post or email, and must be done within 4 weeks of you becoming incapacitated.

It is important that you notify us of a claim promptly (even before expiry of the waiting period) so that we can assess it with the minimum delay to the commencement of payment.

Step 2 – Claim form
Once you notify us of a claim, you will need to complete a claim form. Please contact us on 01225 752120 to request a claim form.

Whilst we will commence the processing of the claim, we will require the original information by post before the claim will be accepted and paid.

You will also need to include:

  • Evidence of your earnings for the period leading up to your first day of absence from work.

  • Copies of any medical certificate(s) your doctor has issued.

Once you have provided us with the above information and completed, signed and dated the claim form, please post it to us at:

Step 3 - Acceptance
We will check your claim form and the information provided to make sure that the claim is valid. You can expect this to take up to 5 working days from receipt at the Society’s office. If we are unable to make your assessment within this timescale because more information is required, we will of course let you know.

Step 4 – Payment

Once we have validated and accepted the claim, payment will be made at the frequency specified in the terms and conditions of your plan, from the beginning of the week after the end of your selected waiting period.
