Who We Are
We pride ourselves in providing a personal service for all our members. Listed below are our contact details and if you’d like to know a bit more about us, you’ll also find a summary of the role we play in the team.
Lee Davis, Head of Compliance and Operations - 01225 756791
I joined the Society in October 2004 as a New Business Administrator, processing applications for both new and existing members.
Since that time, I have progressed to become Head of Compliance and Operations. This gives me incredible variety to my day – from making sure the office ticks along smoothly to ensuring the company operates within the guidelines of our regulators and developing policies and systems to drive the business forward.
The most rewarding part of being here? I enjoy working with like-minded people who all share the same outlook – to enjoy work and to truly put the customer first in every business decision we make.
Deborah Chivers, Benefit Claims Supervisor - 01225 756789
I have worked for the Society for 15 years. My role is to ensure that all claims are processed and benefit is paid promptly with the minimum of fuss enabling members to concentrate on their health rather than worrying about money to pay their bills.
Like most of the team I have had work experience in all other departments, resulting in a broad knowledge and understanding in the workings of the Society. So, if by chance a member of our team is not available, you can be sure that one of us will be able to answer your queries.
Claire Lawes, New Business Administrator - 01225 756793
My role within the Society is to provide essential administrative support to both new and existing members. I provide our Society Representatives with essential membership data which they use to make sure our valuable members are adequately provided for in the event of sickness or an accident.
Lyn Close, Capital Claims Administrator - 01225 756785
My role within the Society is to deal with memberships, withdrawals, closures and setting up direct debits. I also have responsibility for making sure monthly contributions are collected and keeping members informed of any situations that may arise in connection with payment collections.
Sarah Padwick, Financial Controller - 01225 756792
I joined the Society in 2004. At this time I was able to assist with administration of both new business applications and regular benefit claims, which gave me a good overview of the Society. In June 2005, I had the opportunity to move to the accounts department where I now oversee a large proportion of the Society’s accounting transactions in my role as Financial Controller. I also provide the Committee with accurate and relevant data, to help them with the key financial decisions they make for the benefit of our members.
Susan Brooks, Benefit Claims Administrator - 01225 756787
I have been with the Society for nearly 20 years. I have worked in various departments, and have now returned to the Benefit Claims Department, which I really enjoy. It is nice to see a claim come in, be processed and a cheque sent out within a week. It’s one less thing for our members to worry about when they are ill.
Alan Godfrey, Senior Society Representative
I am based in Trowbridge and have been employed by the Society since 1970, though some people seem to think I’ve been around since the Society started! My current role is to provide service to existing members and give advice and support to those wanting to start new plans. It’s rewarding to know that most of the new plans come from referrals we receive from happy existing members.
Clive Merrick, Senior Society Representative
I pride myself in having given sound financial advice to the general public since 1977 and intend to continue this trend with Wiltshire Friendly having joined the Society in May 2009. I look after new and existing members living in Somerset and the surrounding areas. The satisfaction for me comes through providing peace of mind to our members, knowing that they will receive a regular income whilst they are unable to work…and knowing that I personally helped them achieve this.
Chris Phillips, Society Representative
Being one of the Society’s advisers is a fascinating and rewarding job – I spend my time meeting with members and have the satisfaction of ensuring the family income continues when sickness or an accident strike. I live in Chippenham.
Bill Williamson, Society Representative
The most satisfying aspect of my job is the positive feedback we receive from our members, particularly when we are able to provide benefit in their hour of need. People that know me will vouch for the fact that I like to talk, and they also know that I like to listen, which is the most important part of my job - to understand what people need. My base is the Gloucester area though I am happy to travel!
Colin Garman, Society Representative
I live just inside Dorset on the Wiltshire, Hampshire borders and cover South Wiltshire, Dorset & Hampshire. I'm the new boy at Wiltshire Friendly but have been an adviser for over 25 years within financial services. You never know when you might fall ill or have an accident - and that's why I'm here, to help you plan your financial situation just in case you do.
Ed Smith, IT Services Manager - 01225 756790
My job is to ensure that the Society’s technology works day in, day out and that we are using the best IT solutions to meet our members needs. I am also responsible for developing the systems we use so that the team can work faster and smarter to get their jobs done.
